Morehead native makes good

If it’s not the top rung, you can see it from there.

Kim Reeder, who grew up in Morehead, has been named a partner in the Big Four accounting firm of KPMG LLP.

Reeder practices state and local tax accounting, and will be based in Silicon Valley, Calif., after a brief stint with KPMG’s Washington National Tax practice.

Prior to KPMG, she was with a couple of smaller California firms.

If you want to follow in her footsteps, start with education. She has a law degree, with honors, from the University of North Carolina, a master’s in public policy from Duke University and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Yale University.

By the way, KPMG LLP is the U.S. arm of KPMG International, which has 123,000 professionals, including more than 7,100 partners, in 145 countries.

The United Nations is still ahead with 192 members, but KPMG is gaining fast.
