Boison jumps, lands at E.S. Barr & Co.
One of Lexington’s most high-profile female executives, Laura Boison, has left Chase after 30 years with that bank and its predecessors.
She is now at the Lexington investment management firm of E.S. Barr & Co.
“I think they were counting me with the furniture,” Boison said, joking about her longevity at Chase. “No officer has been with the bank longer than I have.”
So why leave?
To do something more creative and more challenging, Boison said Wednesday, her fourth day at E.S. Barr.
“My job after 30 years was somewhat of a craft. It was easy. … We hit our numbers and had a good time. … We were very successful, my team. I thought, ‘Let’s try something else.’ … The family was very supportive. It all worked,” Boison said.
It was a huge step.
She began her banking career as a teller at First Security National Bank & Trust Co., which became Bank One and later Chase.
She climbed the ladder to manager of the credit department, then the commercial banking division and finally business banking. She was a senior vice president.
One thing that won’t change in her new job is the community involvement that made her so well-known. It currently includes serving on the boards of Women Leading Kentucky, Hospice of the Bluegrass and Junior Achievement.
E.S. Barr is “enormously supportive” of community service, convinced it is “the right thing to do,” Boison said.
Her husband, Mark, is also a Chase executive. They have five children.
