A confusing color
A full-page AT&T advertisement in Thursday’s Courier-Journal may have perplexed some University of Louisville basketball fans.
The telecommunications company promoted one of its BlackBerry service offerings below a large statement reading “Congratulations on your trip through The Big Dance. Go Cardinals!” (The company is the official wireless provider of the Cards.)
One problem, though. The background of the entire ad was one color, and that color was orange. And that just happens to be the color of the Tennessee Volunteers, Louisville’s opponent.
Oops.
So why orange? Well, it’s one of AT&T’s primary brand colors. Plus, a company spokeswoman said, “Our ads were designed before the opponents were even decided.”
