Hey, Time, it’s the Bourbon Capital of the World!
Time currently has a very entertaining feature on its Time.com Web site called “50 Authentic American Experiences.”
Just don’t look too carefully at the picture with the Kentucky item if you have blood pressure problems.
It’s like “sticking a red-clad Louisville Cardinal in the UK Basketball team picture,” says reader John E. Campbell of Lexington.
The item is about the Kentucky Bourbon Festival that ended Sunday in Bardstown.
“If your town has to be known for something,” Time says, “you could do a lot worse than the Bourbon Capital of the World.
“The people of Bardstown, Ky., have been distilling the brown liquor since 1776,” Time adds. Bourbon “has kept more Americans warm than central heating.”
The picture shows six bottles of bourbon — Maker’s Mark, Wild Turkey, Old Crow and others — plus the “red-clad Louisville Cardinal,” a bottle of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey.
It’s enough to make a Kentuckian — Cat or Card — just wanna cry.
